Earlier this week I posted an image on Twitter about a t-shirt idea I had been mulling.
The idea behind the shirt was to have a silhouette of long time Winnipeg City Councillor Harvey Smith along with the words "Fear the beard" - an homage to a phrase associated with a pitcher (Brian Wilson) on my favourite baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Any baseball fan will know
Wilson is known for his massive black beard and the "Fear the beard" catch phrase.
Anyway, I ended up getting several requests for t-shirts so rather than quit my day job and run around collecting money and processing orders, I decided to open up a 'shop' on Spreadshirt.com. It allowed me to load up an image, figure out a few products people might want (eg. shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) and then people can order whatever product they want from Shreadshirt directly.
Spreadshirt apparently pays out a profit to shop owners based on sales, but I'm not doing this to make a buck, if I do get anything I'll donate it to a local charity.
But before I post the link to the page and everyone runs off ordering a couple dozen shirts for Christmas gifts, I'll note up front that I'm not a graphic designer so buyer beware.
The image, as uploaded, looks ok to me so I bought a couple items myself. However, if you want to wait a couple weeks until I get the items and can see how they turned out, just shoot me an email (
[email protected]) and I'll let you know.
